LET’S ALL STRIVE TO BE TREES

I read 3 important and inspiring sentences the other day during my morning meditation and prayer time.  They struck me as quite profound.

“Someone has divided people into ‘trees’ and ‘posts.’  A tree put into the ground begins to grow.  A post stuck in the ground begins to rot.”

Imagine a world where everyone decided, made an actual choice, to be a TREE…to reach toward our potential;  to shelter others;  to give nourishment;  to relieve suffering;  to stand tall, and strong against storms;  to flex, and bend with challenges.

Imagine a world where everyone decided, made a conscious choice to be a POST…to be stuck – seemingly secure, yet rigidly fragile;  to be unbending;  self-absorbed;  offering nothing to others;  rotting slowly from within and without;  decaying into nothingness.

Let’s reach out, open our minds and hearts, strive to be what we are mean’t to be,  and make a difference.  Let’s make a forest of TREES where the posts used to be.  What kind of TREE are you?

Peace & Joy to you.

Nancy

**Just for fun:  When you are together with family and friends during the holiday season, ask each person What kind of a TREE would you be?  Share with each other and see what happens.  Happy Holidays!

P.S.  I would be a Palm Tree – basking in the sun, swaying in the ocean breeze; giving coconuts to eat,  and shedding my palms for shelter.

About ndrossowauthor

As long as I can remember I have written - poems, observations, stories. Then graduate school, marriage, raising a family, and work occupied my life 100% of the time, and my writing for pleasure took a back seat. Now, I'm back. Retirement from my professional life as a school psychologist, and university professor, grown children, and an empty nest have freed me to follow my passion. I write on topics at the intersection of psychology and spirituality. My debut novel, A DEEP PLACE OF GRACE will be released soon. I My wonderful husband of nearly 40+years encourages me and my God sustains me.
