Heaven on Earth

Many of us have a special place in nature that speak to us, that  touches us deeply. When I look out over the ocean or vast body of water, I am transported.  Perhaps that is because I am Aquarius…the water bearer.  Whatever it is, I feel a closeness with our Creator and a serenity that inspires me.  I wrote this years ago when I lived on the beach in Florida.  I hope it takes you to a special place of peace.

I walk along the beach,

marveling at the vastness of the ocean,

kicking sand high into the air until it touches the sun as it melts into the blue.

The waves come in,

the waves go out – time and time again,

disturbing only the tiny crabs as they scramble for security beneath the wet sand.

The lonesome cry of a seagull,

as  it wings its way out to some distant shore,

fades away as footprints in the sand are swept out to sea.

The sand, the sun, the sea and the sky –

serenity, fury, and beauty,

a holy creation – a reflection of God.

A special place, a peaceful place,

a natural beauty that leaves me breathless,

as I walk along with my feet in the sand, and my head among the stars.

About ndrossowauthor

As long as I can remember I have written - poems, observations, stories. Then graduate school, marriage, raising a family, and work occupied my life 100% of the time, and my writing for pleasure took a back seat. Now, I'm back. Retirement from my professional life as a school psychologist, and university professor, grown children, and an empty nest have freed me to follow my passion. I write on topics at the intersection of psychology and spirituality. My debut novel, A DEEP PLACE OF GRACE will be released soon. I My wonderful husband of nearly 40+years encourages me and my God sustains me.
