It happens several times a year, usually around some religious holiday, but sometimes out of the clear blue. I am reminded of an internal discussion I have with myself, a discussion about the Big Question…is there a God? There, I’ve asked it.
It would appear that there is one school of thought that says an adamant “Yes”…just look at nature, etc. and you can see clearly. There is another school of thought that says “No”…there is no proof since no one has ever seen God. Then there are probably the majority of people that want to believe in God, that don’t ask the big question, that just go on faith.
Even a discussion of the theory of evolution can and does evoke strong polar views…we can’t have it both ways. There is a truth to it all, but our puny minds may not yet be ready to grasp the whole picture…The Big Answer.
Perhaps the former science teacher in me, or the psychologist that rules my mind, or the person of faith I consider myself to be enjoys pondering these Big Concepts. But this question has always stuck with me:
If the universe and all of us came about by “accident”…by an organizing of the chaos of the elements (carbon, hydrogen etc) into some life, WHERE DID THE ELEMENTS FOR LIFE COME FROM? If we accept that we just sort of happened, someone (God) had to create the elements – right? And if the elements just came out of nothing…why couldn’t God? Interesting I think.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Blessings to all.
