Nancy Dort Rossow

The Earth, our home, cries out at our feuding, fighting, hating, polluting, dishonesty, greed, and hostility – the products of our anger – eating away like some malignant disease; some insidious infection.  Our Earth reacts.

The Earth’s oceans and seas roil and spill over our shores.  Like the vomit of a sick world, it suffocates and destroys.

The Earth’s crust buckles and twists.  Like a body ridding itself of a painful invader, it throws and destroys.

The Earth’s skin boils and stretches. Like an infection-filled pore spewing out the poison beneath, it erupts and destroys.

The Earth’s air swirls and slams.  Like a germ-ridding sneeze,

it flattens and destroys.

The Earth’s clouds pummel and pour rain.  Like the tears of the anguished, it drowns and destroys.

The Earth, our home, tries mightily to cleanse itself of the angry, ruinous energy that We create and feed – we destroy.

Love, Peace, Truth, Compassion, Charity, Acceptance, and Encouragement heal like disease-curing potions.  They build-up and strengthen.  The Earth heals as we heal.

Loving Our Very Earth

1 Corinthians 13:4-8  Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.  Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.

About ndrossowauthor

As long as I can remember I have written - poems, observations, stories. Then graduate school, marriage, raising a family, and work occupied my life 100% of the time, and my writing for pleasure took a back seat. Now, I'm back. Retirement from my professional life as a school psychologist, and university professor, grown children, and an empty nest have freed me to follow my passion. I write on topics at the intersection of psychology and spirituality. My debut novel, A DEEP PLACE OF GRACE will be released soon. I My wonderful husband of nearly 40+years encourages me and my God sustains me.
